Indonesian Missionary Speaker Cancelled - Pray for Fr. Gregory

From Fr. Michael:
Dear Brethren,
I'm sorry to have to announce that Fr. Daniel Byantoro, founder of the Orthodox Church in Indonesia will not be coming to our area due to a tragedy in Indonesia. A young Indonesian priest was killed tragically in an auto accident. You can read some details below provided by Fr. James Bernstein in Brier, WA. Please pray for the soul of Fr. Gregory, and for his wife and young child.
On Wednesday Feb 20, 2008 Fr Gregory Momongan 32 years of age was hit by a car. He died today, Thursday, Feb 21.
Fr Gregory was the only Orthodox priest serving on the huge Indonesian Island of Sulawesi also called Celebes. He served the town of Manado.
He leaves behind a wife and one year old daughter. Fr Gregory had been riding a motorcycle which is a common means of transportation there when he was hit by the car.
Fr Daniel Byantoro who has been staying at our home this week is postponing his speaking tour in Eastern Washington (scheduled for this coming week) in order to fly back for the funeral in Indonesia.
He is scheduled to fly out late Friday night.
Fr Daniel says that Fr Gregory was like a son to him and was in training to assist him in his ministry.

Quote From Our Bishop

It is through the virtue of humility that we attain spiritual gifts. Humility is the acknowledgement that God has saved us, forgiven us and desires that we should do the same. God does not force us to do so, we must be willing. If we are not willing to be humble, the world will humiliate us. The humble person cannot be humiliated, for humiliation is nothing but a blow to our pride. The one who has no pride escapes such suffering.

Your Father in Christ,
+ Bishop JOSEPH

Fr. Daniel is a powerful speaker and witness to the Orthodox Faith and a
convert to Islam. Through his efforts about 3,000 Indonesians have
converted to Orthodox Christianity (beginning with his own Muslim family)
and he has established over 30 parishes there. For this his life has been
threatened more than once.
